This hands-on course will guide you, using sight, smell and taste, through the world’s key spirit categories and production methods. The course is designed to introduce you to spirits in an interactive yet structured manner. You will learn how to taste spirits using a systematic approach.

Bartending & Mixology

  • bar tools and equipment 
  • use of cocktail equipment 
  • history of the cocktail and a look at the classics
  • reading and understanding recipes 
  • pouring and shaking techniques
  • spirit knowledge
  • tasting
  • what makes a ‘balanced’ drink 
  • creativity with ingredients
  • creating a menu 
  • speed training. 

Barista & Specialty Tea

Our Barista & Speciality Tea modules focus on both classic training and the latest trends. You will learn how to create the perfect cup of coffee using the best Barista tools and techniques. This highly interactive course will ensure you become a confident hot beverage specialist. 

Topics we cover include:

  • ‘From Farm to Cup’ – a background into where coffee comes from
  • an introduction to Espresso machines and how they work
  • Barista skills and how to make the perfect espresso
  • building and working with coffee menus
  • using your senses to truly taste-test coffee 
  • the coffee roasting process 
  • customer service including taking orders and making multiple drinks
  • perfecting micro-foam to achieve basic ‘Latte Art’
  • tea extraction times and temperatures
  • time for plenty of practice!
